Surrey will welcome 1,000 people to the Kia Oval on each day of their friendly against Middlesex on Sunday and Monday, which is one of the government’s pilot events for the return of fans to sport.

Phone lines opened this morning for Surrey and Middlesex members (with a smaller allocation for the latter) wanting to attend the two-day match in a socially-distanced fashion.

Numbers will be limited to 1,000 in the 25,500-seater stadium - which is currently being redeveloped - with allocated seating and two seats between each booking and alternate rows remaining empty.

Cricket returns to the Oval on Wednesday evening with Surrey Women playing Middlesex Women in a friendly that will be streamed for free, with commentary and manned cameras, on the club’s website and Facebook channel.

The same will be true of every Surrey game played at the Oval this season, allowing fans to watch domestic cricket despite not being able to attend games.

Surrey have three home matches in the first-class Bob Willis Trophy, fixtures for which will be announced on Friday.
