Surrey are seeking their ninth straight win across all formats, despite an 11-day break, when they meet rivals Kent tomorrow with a place at Saturday’s T20 finals day on the line.

Surrey, who were winless at the start of September, are chasing a first T20 title since the inaugural competition in 2003 and a first finals day appearance since 2014.

Gareth Batty, Ben Foakes and Hashim Amla are fit again, meaning there is real competition for places — a stark contrast to August, when they were forced into the loan market due to an availability crisis.

Foakes said: “We are on a good run and there’s a good buzz about the place. It’s strange to be playing in October, but we’ve just got to make the most of it and try to make sure we have as many games left as possible.”
