West Indies lose services of Jerome Taylor

10 April 2012

West Indies have been hit by the news that pace spearhead Jerome Taylor will miss the remainder of their tour of Australia.

The 25-year-old injured his left hip and back after bowling just nine overs on day one of the first Test in Brisbane, which ended in a heavy defeat for the Windies.

Taylor, who did not play in the warm-up game against Queensland due to general soreness, will return to Jamaica on Tuesday.

West Indies management are yet to name a replacement player.

Captain Chris Gayle, who described the innings-and-65-run loss to Australia as a "disaster", had hoped Taylor would be able to take his place in the side for the second Test starting in Adelaide later this week.

The Windies are expected to recover middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan for the clash after he missed the first Test with a back injury.
