Cristiano Ronaldo to unveil museum dedicated to...Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is to open a museum in Madeira - to celebrate his own achievements in football.

The 28-year-old forward, who has won domestic titles in Spain and England as well as the Champions League, is currently enjoying his best season to date, with 25 goals coming in just 18 appearances so far this season.

He has been tipped as one of the favourites, along with Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery, to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or Award for 2013, which he last won back in 2008. And his success on the pitch has somewhat given him the inspiration to celebrate his career off the pitch.

The former Manchester United forward has chosen the place of his birth, Funchal, as the location for where the museum will be based, and travelled there with his mother and son, Cristiano Jnr, to give the green light for the plans to go ahead.

The new project has been confirmed by Ronaldo's brother Hugo Aveiro. The museum will include items of memorabilia as well as winners’ medals, footballs and photographs of Ronaldo throughout his career.

Ronaldo, who has 108 caps for Portugal, has confirmed his attendance for the grand opening of the museum on December 15 as it opens to the public for the first time.
