Curtis latest Rover on way to Leicester

14 April 2012

New Leicester signing John Curtis is poised to make his first appearance for the club in tomorrow's pre-season friendly at Woking.

Curtis is moving from Blackburn - subject to passing a medical - on a two-year contract.

The Nuneaton-born player is manager Micky Adams' 11th signing of the summer and the third from Ewood Park following Keith Gillespie and Craig Hignett.

The former Manchester United player will give Adams the competition to fill the right-back position.

He said: "We have been after a right-back for some time, and Curtis has a good pedigree.

"He came through the ranks at Manchester United and has played at every level for England other than as a full international.

"He is a solid defender with good pace and will certainly add competition for that right-back spot."

Curtis, 24, made only four starts for United and then had a loan spell at Barnsley before joining Blackburn for £1.5million in June 2000.
