Weighing in at the legal limit of just 6.8kg, the Cervelo T5GB is the track bike that Team GB hope will be propelling the likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins and Laura Trott to Olympic gold in Rio this summer.
According to British Cycling, the Cervelo T5GB has been developed “using expertise from Formula 1”, with work on the bike’s development taking place at the organisation’s Manchester base and other sites around the country.
The bike will enable a sprinter to generate in excess of 2,000 watts, albeit momentarily, and will be a key component as the team bid to better the eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals they won at London 2012.
Tony Purnell, head of technical development for the Great Britain Cycling Team, said: “The intelligence and expertise brought together by the partnership between British Cycling and Cervelo is unparalleled and, in record time, has delivered a bike which we are very excited about as we get closer to Rio.
“Over recent years, our programme has produced some of the very best track cyclists in the world – as is evidenced by their tremendous success in recent Olympic and Paralympic Games.
