Dai Greene to lead Brits in Sweden

Dai Greene will captain Britain and Northern Ireland in next weekend's European Team Championships in Stockholm.

The Welsh 400metres hurdler is one of three European champions in the squad, which was announced today.

The other Barcelona gold medallists are 110m hurdler Andy Turner and triple jump champion Phillips Idowu and they will be joined by Helen Clitheroe, who won the indoor European title over 3000m in Paris in March.

"I was surprised to be asked but I'm really proud to take on the role of captain," said Greene.
