Lindsay Davenport eased to the WTA Cellular South Cup title in Memphis on Saturday with a quickfire 6-2 6-1 victory over Olga Govortsova.

Playing in her first American tournament since the 2006 US Open, fourth-seeded Davenport overpowered the 19-year-old from Belarus within an hour in their first career meeting and broke Govortsova five times.

Davenport never faced a break point, rained down eight aces and won 89% of her first serve points, while world number 49 Govortsova managed just two aces and committed five double-faults in her first career final appearance.

Since returning in September following the birth of her first child, 31-year-old Davenport now holds a 24-2 record after also winning in Bali, Quebec City and Auckland.

Davenport has leapt from from 234th to 46th in the WTA rankings and is set to rise even higher after claiming her 55th career singles title.
