Davenport urges switch to TV technology

14 April 2012

Lindsay Davenport today called for technology to help tennis umpires.

"They have this great technology on TV, and it seems that players are getting robbed quite a bit by some tight calls," the world No1 said in Tokyo, where she is bidding for a fifth Pan Pacific Open title.

But the American added: "My one concern would be how it would effect the flow of the match, and how many times certain people would argue calls, even if they're wrong."

Davenport reached the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Japan's Saori Obata.
