David Haye today revealed he will make a second comeback from retirement at the age of 35 when facing Mark de Mori at London’s O2.

Haye had pledged not to fight on past the age of 31 but made a return following his world title defeat by Wladimir Klitschko to beat Dereck Chisora in five rounds in 2012.

And three years on, the Londoner (right) has announced he will return to the ring on January 16 against Australian De Mori, who is ranked eighth in the world by the WBA after winning 29 of his 32 fights.

Haye said: “I’m so happy to be able to step back through the ropes and back into the ring, where I do my best work. I’ve always set the bar high in my career and I will continue to do so.

“Please sit back and get ready for another fun-fuelled heavyweight campaign to the very top.

“It’s been a long three-and-a-half years out, with many ups and downs, but The Hayemaker is finally back.”

There had been previous plans to continue his fight career in 2012, with bouts lined up against Manuel Charr and Tyson Fury, but they were called off because of injury.

Haye, who is being trained by Shane McGuigan, the son of former world champion Barry, eventually underwent shoulder surgery and officially retired on the advice of doctors before performing his U-turn two years on.

The highlight of Haye’s career is his world title win over the seven-foot Russian Nikolai Valuev after which his career stalled.
