Defeated Dons boost bank balance

Dean Jones13 April 2012

AFC Wimbledon have vowed to save the cash from their FA Cup adventure to ensure the credit crunch does not stop them reaching the Football League.

The Dons put in a brave performance last night but could not come to terms with the strength and power of League Two Wycombe as Matt Harrold struck a clinical hat-trick in a 4-1 win.

The Conference South club landed £100,000 on their way to the first round, and boss Terry Brown said: "With this money we have made we are looking at next year's budget and to improve the ground to get it up to League standards.

"This is a fantastic club that will go back into the Football League. It is just a matter of time. We've already made fantastic progress, and there hasn't been a sugar daddy buying the thing and pumping money in. It's down to the fans, our support is magnificent."
