Del Piero strikes it rich with £5.5m-a-year deal

Alessandro Del Piero's position as one of the world's best paid footballers was reaffirmed today when he extended his contract with Italian champions Juventus until June 2008.
The 28-year-old striker's new five-year deal is worth around £5.5million a year, including image rights.
But that is still behind David Beckham's Real Madrid deal which is worth up to £8m-a-year because of various sponsorship and rights deals.
Del Piero has spent his entire career with Juve.
He missed their 2-1 win over Greek side Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday because of a calf injury which is likely to keep him out of action for a month.
