Doherty is desperate for lucky break

Ken Doherty is hoping to revive his fading snooker fortunes when he takes on Hong Kong's Marco Fu for a quarter-final spot in the Welsh Open in Newport tonight

The 1997 world champion has not won a world ranking event for four years but said: "I'm just hoping one good win will be the start of a good 2005 for me."

Stephen Hendry, three times winner of the Welsh title, is through after his 5-4 victory over UK champion Stephen Maguire and now faces another Scot, Graeme Dott.
