Eales says no to Barbarians

13 April 2012

Wallaby great John Eales, who played his final test on 1 September, will not play for the Barbarians against Australia.

The tour- ending match is scheduled for 28 November at Cardiff. Australia play Spain in Madrid tomorrow and then Tests against England, France and Wales.

Eales, 31, who led Australia to their second World Cup win in 1999, said: "I haven't trained or anything since 1 September. I spoke to Barbarians coach Bob Dwyer about a month ago and it didn't suit me, so I'm definitely not playing."

Wallaby coach Eddie Jones said the Australian players would probably prefer not to have to play against their former skipper.

"But if he makes that decision I'm sure they'll all enjoy the contest," Jones said.
