New Crusaders head coach Iestyn Harris has appointed his former Wales international team-mate Barry Eaton as his assistant.

Eaton, a prolific scrum-half with Batley, Dewsbury and Widnes, has spent the last four seasons as head coach of Championship club Keighley Cougars.

"It has always been an ambition of mine to coach in Super League, and I am thrilled to have that opportunity with Crusaders," said Eaton, who has signed a two-year contract.

Eaton fills the vacancy caused by the departure of former Huddersfield boss Jon Sharp, who was - with Harris - an assistant to Brian Noble at the Racecourse Ground last season.

Harris said: "I am thrilled to have Barry on the Crusaders coaching staff. He was a class act on the field and he has proved to be a class act since moving into coaching."
