Elbow surgery for Robinson

Huddersfield scrum-half Luke Robinson will miss the start of the new Super League season after being injured on England's Four Nations tour.

The 26-year-old will undergo surgery on Monday on the left elbow he dislocated and broke during last Saturday's 36-10 victory over Papua New Guinea in Auckland.

He was due to have an operation on a long-standing shoulder problem on Saturday but that has been delayed for around three weeks because the broken elbow had to take priority.

"I've been told the expected recovery time from my shoulder surgery will be around three months," Robinson told the Huddersfield Examiner.

"So, if I'd had that surgery tomorrow (Saturday) then there would have been a chance I'd have been back for the start of the new season.

"But I need the elbow done as quickly as possible because that's a break and it needs to be plated.

"And it's probably going to be three weeks later before I can have the shoulder surgery now.

"I did ask the surgeon if there was any chance I could have both operations done at the same time but he said that would increase the risk of infection and make it impossible for me to carry out even the most basic of functions. So it's just a case of being as patient as I can for the next few months."

The new season starts with the Magic Weekend in Cardiff on February 12.

Robinson is due to get married later this month after delaying the ceremony because of the Four Nations tour.
