England rated as best in the world

England will go into the World Cup next month as the No1 side in the Zurich international rankings, narrowly ahead of the Tri-Nations champions New Zealand.

Despite England's defeat by France in Marseille a fortnight ago, their comfortable win in the return leg at Twickenham and the big victory over Wales have seen them consolidate their position at the top.

They have been rated No1 since the November internationals of 2002.
