England to meet Scotland at Wembley in May

13 April 2012

England and Scotland will meet for the first time in eight-and-a-half years on Wednesday, May 28, at Wembley Stadium. The fixture will be the highlight of Fabio Capello's first post-season get-together.

The last time England faced the Scots was in November 1999 in a European Championship qualifying play-off. Scotland won 1-0 at Wembley four days after England had won the first leg 2-0 at Hampden.

The FA are also considering a fixture for the weekend of May 31-June 1, with China possible opponents, although Capello may prefer to use the period as a training camp.

The match will be a big early test for new Scotland manager George Burley, who was confirmed in the post yesterday.
