England washed out ... again

13 April 2012

England's fourth one-day international against West Indies was again affected by the weather today with heavy rain forcing officials to abandon it without a ball being bowled.

Umpires Darrell Hair and Eddie Nicholls made an early inspection this morning of the Queens Park ground and quickly ruled out the prospect of any play after the area was affected by persistent rain from first thing today.

It is the latest setback in a series which has been dominated by the weather with only one match being completed - the opening game in Guyana 10 days ago which was restricted to 30 overs a side that England triumphed by two wickets.

Since then both back-to-back internationals in Trinidad last weekend were washed out without any conclusion and heavy rain since their arrival in Grenada has also forced today's abandonment.

England could face further disruption for the remainder of the series as well with this weekend's back-to-back fixtures in St Lucia already in doubt because of bad weather while the conclusion to the series in Barbados on May 5 could also be affected after persistent rain on the holiday island for the last week.
