England's Davis praises Tigana

Leo Spall13 April 2012

Fulham midfielder Sean Davis today paid tribute to his manager Jean Tigana for helping him get into the England Under-21 side.

Davis, who will again be a key man when Fulham visit Tran-mere tonight, won his first Under-21 cap when England beat Finland 4-0 last Friday and then played in the 1-0 win in Albania on Tuesday.

"I have to pinch myself sometimes because things have gone so well," said the Clapham-born player who made his club debut in Division Three shortly after his 17th birthday.

"I didn't think I'd ever play for England. But this campaign has been like a breath of fresh air.

The manager has instilled a lot of confidence and self-belief in me and I owe a lot to him.

"If we get up and Jean Tigana stays I can improve a lot. I have got a lot more to offer."
