ERC investigate Collymore fight

Allegations: Stan Collymore

Stan Collymore's brawl with Bath players is being investigated by European rugby chiefs.

European Rugby Cup (ERC), who are based in Dublin, have asked Bath for details of their involvement in a fight in the Irish capital that allegedly left disgraced footballer Collymore with a broken nose and damaged ribs.

Bath, whose players had lost to Leinster in the Heineken Cup before last Sunday's incident, have denied centre Robbie Fleck racially abused Collymore and insist that it is up to the Irish police to take any further action.

ERC and the Rugby Football Union have now requested details of the Bath investigation into the incident.

An ERC spokesman said: "At this stage all we have asked is for Bath to supply us with a sequence of events."

The RFU will put Bath's report before their Disciplinary Officer to decide if a charge of bringing the game into disrepute is warranted after Collymore claimed "up to six" Bath players assaulted him, including England lock Danny Grewcock.

Collymore, 33, flew into Dublin yesterday and was interviewed by Garda officers.

He said he became involved in a fight with members of the Bath team in Grafton Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
