New world No1 Amelie Mauresmo beat Swiss Patty Schnyder 7-5, 6-4 in the second round of tennis's Filderstadt Grand Prix in Germany.

But the Frenchwoman was fully stretched and said: "I haven't played since the US Open and made too many unforced errors."

She now meets American Lisa Raymond. French Open champion Anastasia Myskina beat Nathalie Dechy of France 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated fellow Russian Elena Bovina 7-5, 6-4.
