The prestigious tournament has been sponsored by the Evening Standard since the outset in 1992.

The new agreement will extend the sponsorship to 13 years and take it up to the year 2005.

Tournament director David Willis admitted today: "I'm absolutely delighted with this news, as I'm sure are all the competing clubs. No company has shown such a serious commitment to cricket at grass-roots level."
