Everton manager David Moyes is ready to make a £8million move for Bordeaux midfielder Alou Diarra.

Chairman Bill Kenwright had told Moyes he will have money to spend in the transfer market after meeting with him in the south of France last weekend.

Diarra, 26, played for Liverpool as a teenager but never broke into the first team.

Moyes tried to lure him to Everton then and has followed his progress ever since.

The French international only joined Bordeaux from Lyon at the start of the season and has helped them finish second and qualify for next season's Champions League.

Moyes needs a replacement for midfielder Lee Carsley who was released today.
