FA aim to take drastic action

The Football Association want to discuss salary caps and central control over transfers as part of a widespread revolution to save the game.

Football's finances are at their lowest-ever ebb because of reduced television revenue and spiralling wages and the FA are preparing to take drastic action.

FA chief executive Adam Crozier said: "We must start this whole exercise from the position that football is the national game and people love it. So we have to make it work in new conditions.

This won't be in the way everyone envisages, but life is changing for everyone these days and football can't hope to be an exception."
