Federer marches on

World number one Roger Federer cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Serbia's Novak Djokovic.

The Swiss defending champion won his match in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne 6-2 7-5 6-3 to set up a last-eight clash with seventh seed Tommy Robredo of Spain, who beat 18th-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet in four sets.

Robredo beat Gasquet 6-4 6-2 3-6 6-4 to set up his last-eight meeting with Federer.

Tommy Haas, the 12th seed, booked his place in the fourth round with a 7-6 (7-1) 6-3 6-3 victory over fellow German Florian Mayer - while 13th seed Tomas Berdych also progressed with a comfortable 6-2 6-1 6-1 triumph over Dmitry Tursunov.
