Ferguson in Sky bust-up

Sir Alex Ferguson has become embroiled in a row with Sky and is refusing to talk to them despite the satellite TV company owning 9.9 per cent of Manchester United.

Ferguson is still furious after an incident in the summer when a Sky News reporter interrupted a private meal he was having with his family on holiday in the south of France to be asked about David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid.

The manager of the Premiership champions refused to do any pre or post match interviews for Sunday's FA Community Shield and has made it clear the ban will stay until he receives an apology.

It is clearly a delicate matter as Sky have already put more than £2billion into football and last Friday paid £1.024billion for Premier League rights for three seasons from 2004-5.

It is believed that senior members of both companies are attempting to resolve the situation. Neither Sky or United would comment.

Ferguson famously fell out with the BBC over an article in Match of the Day magazine and once even refused to talk to United's own MUTV after a programme featured criticism of him.
