Veteran Australian forward Craig Fitzgibbon has signed a new one-year contract with Hull.

The 33-year-old, who joined the club from the Sydney Roosters in the off-season on an initial one-year deal, has made an outstanding start to life in the engage Super League, making 15 appearances for Richard Agar's men and establishing himself as one of he competition's most uncompromising forwards.

His form has led to the two parties agreeing the new contract and Fitzgibbon is delighted to have extended his stay.

"Hull gave me the opportunity to come over here and experience something different so I feel I owe them something back in return," he said.

"Hopefully I can repay the faith they have shown in me with some good form and help us to some good results for the rest of the season."

Fitzgibbon's deal comes on the back of Kirk Yeaman, Willie Manu, Richard Whiting, Danny Houghton and Danny Tickle committing their futures to the KC Stadium outfit, and the former Australia international admits that he never considered leaving at the end of the season.

"I didn't explore it, there was no point in fielding other offers and I wasn't really looking anywhere else," he added.

"I knew I had to play well enough to earn the option of another deal."
