Fletcher: Oval win is vital

14 April 2012

England have set their sights on finishing their summer with a flourish when they attempt to complete an emphatic victory over Pakistan in next week's final Test.

Despite injuries decimating their selection options, England sealed the npower series with an emphatic 167-run victory in the third Test at Headingley earlier this week.

"We'll definitely be going out to win at The Oval," stressed coach Duncan Fletcher. "We went through a period when we didn't lose a Test for a while and now we've won two and 3-0 would be a lot, lot better than 2-1. It's vital we keep on winning."

With that in mind, England are expected to name an unchanged squad with Gloucestershire seamer Jon Lewis included, although he may again be relegated to 12th-man duties as he has done for five of the previous six Tests this summer.

Yorkshire seamer Matthew Hoggard suffered a jarred knee during the previous Test victory, restricting him to only seven overs during the second innings at Headingley, but his injury is not considered serious enough to prevent his inclusion for The Oval.
