Florent Malouda: We have to Bridge gap

Simon Johnson13 April 2012

Florent Malouda today admitted Chelsea must improve their home form or forget about winning the title.

Chelsea's lacklustre performance in the goalless draw at home to Newcastle on Saturday means they have already dropped nine points at Stamford Bridge this term.

They were not punished for their woeful display as championship rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal also dropped points but Malouda said: "We can't afford to keep dropping points at home. When you lose points at home you have to avenge them away.

"At the moment we have managed to do that, but of course to win the championship we have to find a solution at home."

Chelsea's first priority though is winning at Bordeaux on Wednesday night to secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Malouda believes the French club could pay the price for Didier Drogba's domestic three-game suspension for throwing a coin as he will be available to play in Europe.

He added: "After being suspended he will be really hungry to prove what he can bring to the team."
