Football to resume in Italy

The Italian football federation (FIGC) has announced that all football tournaments in Italy will resume this weekend.

The season was suspended following the death of a police officer during fighting between Catania and Palermo fans on February 2.

"I believe that it would be a mistake not to resume play," said FIGC commissioner Luca Pancalli.

"It would be a mistake not to take this positive energy that we have collected in the past couple of days, that has allowed us to consider the situation. Now we cannot give in to violent people."
