89 film exclusive scene: Lee Dixon and George Graham reveal truth of Arsenal great's transfer

James Benge20 November 2017

If you’re an Arsenal fan and haven’t already seen 89 today is your lucky day. Even if you have, we’ve got something special for you today.

The movie, available to buy today, tells the story of how George Graham built an Arsenal side who could overcome the odds and pip Liverpool to the title in dramatic fashion on the final day of the 1988-89 season.

And few of Graham’s signings proved to be wiser than that of Lee Dixon, brought in from Second Division side Stoke in 1988 to replace England international Viv Anderson.

Dixon would go on to play 616 games for Arsenal, winning four league titles, three FA Cups and a Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup. But it all could have been very different due to little more than a few hundred pounds.

Watch the video above for an exclusive deleted scene from the film in which Graham and Dixon discuss his switch to Highbury.

89 is available now on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download
