After 'Golden Balls', now it's Lionel Messi's 'Golden foot'

6 March 2013

Becks is nicknamed ‘Golden Balls’ and now there’s a pure gold replica of Lionel Messi’s left foot, unveiled in Tokyo today.

The foot, valued at £3.5million and cast in Spain at the end of last year, was created by Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka in honour of the Barcelona player’s foot responsible for the majority of his goals and will be put up for sale tomorrow.

Messi’s brother Rodrigo, who attended the unveiling, said: “It’s exceptional. You can see each line in the foot.”

Part of the proceeds of the sale will go to Messi’s foundation, which supports children around the world.
