Alexis Sanchez has been named Arsenal Player of the Season after topping the fan vote with 66 per cent of votes cast.
It caps a spectacular first season for the Chilean, who has swiftly become a favourite at the Emirates for his energetic style of play and committed attitude. Add a return of 24 goals and nine assists and it is little surprise that Sanchez topped the fan vote.
He beat Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla in the vote, with second place for the former further proof of the importance of a player who has gone from Charlton loanee to a vital part of the Arsenal midfield.
But for Sanchez, who cost the Gunners over £30 million when he signed from Barcelona, the season has been a “disappointing” one on a personal level.
Whilst on international duty with Chile at the Copa America he said: “Yes, we played the FA Cup final and won but I was sad to not have been in the Champions League final or to have won the Premier League."

He set the Cup final alight with the second goal in a 4-0 triumph over Aston Villa but it is clear Sanchez is targeting bigger and better things next season.
