Andre Villas-Boas is up for the chase

11 April 2012

Andre Villas-Boas has no worries about playing catch-up with Manchester United even if Chelsea lose at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Blues are already two points behind Sir Alex Ferguson's side, who have rattled in 18 goals in their first four matches.

Last year, Chelsea set the pace as they scored 21 goals to win their opening five Premier League games but were overtaken by United, who took the title nine points.

"Whatever happens on Sunday it won't dictate how the League will finish," said the Chelsea manager today. "We would have preferred to go into the game level on points but it is still early.

"History has shown that many teams have come from being behind in the past, Manchester United have done it themselves.

"This game comes at a good time for us. Both teams are very motivated and feel strong. We are confident but know it will be a big, big challenge."

Striker Didier Drogba is sidelined due to concussion, while back-up goalkeeper Hilario is set to miss out with a hip problem. It means Ross Turnbull will be on the bench even though he is carrying a knock.
