Chelsea boss Frank Lampard sends Andre Wisdom his best wishes after Derby defender's stabbing

Frank Lampard has sent his best wishes to Andre Wisdom after the Derby County defender was stabbed in Liverpool.

Lampard managed Wisdom at Derby last season. Wisdom is recovering in hospital after he was attacked in an "unprovoked assault and robbery" while visiting relatives on Merseyside.

Lampard said: “I was very shocked at hearing the news. My wishes are with Andre and his family, and with Derby County.

"They have had a tough ride over the past period of time and I know how much Mel Morris cares for the club and the players and staff individually. Huge wishes to Andre in his recovery.”

Police are investigating are investigating the incident. Derby say Wisdom, 27, will make a full recovery.

In a statement, Derby said: “Derby County can confirm that Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.

"He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital, where he is in a stable condition."
