Antonio Conte warns Chelsea players to keep their cool against Manchester United at Old Trafford

Antonio Conte has told his Chelsea players to keep their cool when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday.

Chelsea will be attempting to beat Manchester United, who are managed by former Blues' manager Jose Mourinho, for a third time this season.

They beat them 4-0 in the League in October and also knocked them out of the FA Cup quarter-finals last month.

That 1-0 success was a much tighter affair, but the momentum swung in Chelsea's favour when Ander Herrera was sent off for two yellow cards.

Conte is expecting an even tougher battle on the pitch this time and said: "For us it’s always important to control our emotion because we are playing and fighting to win the title. For sure this game will be a tough game. But we are ready to play.

“I don’t know (if they want revenge for two defeats). I think Manchester United for sure will have good motivation because they are playing against Chelsea – and Chelsea is top of the table. Every team wants to beat us."

Conte's men will also have the added pressure of playing a day after Spurs host Bournemouth at home.

Manchester United have drawn 11 games this term, eight of which have been on home soil.

Mourinho has complained that opponents have been going to United's ground with the sole intention of playing for a point.

But Conte added: "Will we play for a win? Yes, for sure. It’s important now in every game to try and take three points, including at Old Trafford.

"We know this game will be very tough but we are in good form and the players have the right confidence. I want to try to win. But in the same way that United will try to win too.

“We will find the same situation as this weekend because Tottenham play Bournemouth first. But in England there is no such thing as an easy game – and Bournemouth are a good team.

“If you compare these two games – we face United away and Tottenham face Bournemouth at home – I think that it’s easier for Tottenham to take points in their home stadium.

"But we have to see game by game. We know our schedule is not easy but we want to play game by game and prepare in the right way for United. I think we are having a good season but we want it to become a great season.”
