Antonio Conte will 'probably' win Chelsea the title next season - Alessandro Del Piero

Antonio Conte can lead Chelsea to the Premier League title next season if his players listen to him, according to Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero.

Conte, 46, will take over at Stamford Bridge following a disastrous 2015/16 campaign for Chelsea, in which Jose Mourinho was sacked just months after winning the 2014/15 title as the Blues fought off a potential relegation battle.

Interim coach Guus Hiddink steadied the ship as Chelsea surrendered their title in startling fashion to Leicester, finishing 10th to leave Conte and Chelsea with no European football next term.

Conte impressed with Italy at Euro 2016 this summer as the Azzurri went out to Germany in the quarter-finals on penalties, and Del Piero - who played alongside Conte at Juventus - is confident the coach will be a success in London if his new squad follow his orders.

"He's a good guy, he loves to work a lot," Del Piero told Sky Sports. "If he has a chance to talk to players in the right way, and if they understand what he wants, Chelsea can have a very good season and probably win the title.

"It's not easy, the Premier League is amazing this year in terms of players and coaches, but he has a chance."

Conte has already added to his squad by signing Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi on a five-year deal, with more signings expected before the start of the season.
