The FA have asked Arsene Wenger for his observations following comments made to the media before and after Wednesday's draw with Chelsea.

Wenger, who was charged by the FA on Tuesday after comments made to the match officials immediately after Sunday's draw with West Brom, said referee Mike Dean “saw what he wanted to see” in awarding the Baggies a penalty in a follow-up press conference.

The Frenchman also suggested a referee bias against Arsenal exists, describing several decisions which have gone against the Gunners this term as a "concerning coincidence".

Wenger was speaking in the build-up to Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea, in which another controversial penalty was awarded against Wenger's side.

Hector Bellerin was judged to have fouled Eden Hazard when attempting to clear the ball in the area, though contact seemed to be minimal.

It was the fourth spot-kick awarded against the Gunners this term and Wenger later branded the decision "farcical".

"We got again a farcical decision on a penalty but we knew that before so we have to deal with that," he said.

"I don’t know [if it was a penalty]. I don’t want to talk about that. I’m fed up with that."

And the 68-year-old has since been asked to explain comments made to the media.

An FA statement read: "The FA has requested observations from Arsène Wenger for media comments he made on Tuesday [02/01/18] and after last night’s Arsenal versus Chelsea match [03/01/18]."

The Arsenal boss has until 6pm on Tuesday, January 9 to respond.
