Arjen Robben has warned his Bayern Munich team-mates to avoid complacency against an Arsenal side that “can beat any team” on their day.

The Bundesliga champions travel to the Emirates pm a two and a half month winning run, during which they have conceded just four goals and scored 37. They top their group after comfortable wins in their opening two fixtures and have the most in-form player in the continent, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

At the other end of Group F Arsenal have endured a disastrous start to the Champions League, losing to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos in careless fashion. It leaves Arsene Wenger’s side potentially needing a victory against Bayern to stay in the hunt for a qualification spot; a result Robben does not believe is beyond the Gunners.

The Dutch winger, who missed the trip to London with a groin injury, praised Arsenal’s form since the two sides last met in 2014. He told the Telegraph: “I thought last season they did very well. They won prizes; the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

“They looked very stable and this year they look very strong. I was really surprised to see them lose two Champions League games but, on their good day, I think they can beat any team and we have to be aware.”

Robben’s absence means there will be no rehashing of the criticism he received from Wenger on his last appearance against Arsenal, when he was labelled “a great player and a very good diver” after winning a soft penalty for Bayern.

However neither party still holds a grudge over the incident, which was of little importance in Bayern’s 3-1 aggregate win victory in the 2014 round of 16, after putting their problems aside during the World Cup.

Robben added: “If they lose some managers are disappointed and not always fair and realistic. Maybe one week after they say: ‘OK, maybe it was wrong what I said. But I haven’t got a problem.

“I think he’s unique. To be there for such a long time you are doing a lot of things very, very well.

“See the players who became better. Look at the way Arsenal has developed. In Holland or Germany, they always talk positive about Arsenal. Why? The way they play, no negative football, always positive technical football, wanting to make the game. I think that is a big credit to him.”

Though Robben will be missing for Bayern on Tuesday there will be plenty of attacking options to keep Arsenal concerned, with Kingsley Coman returning alongside Douglas Costa to provide for Lewandowksi and Thomas Muller.
