Arsenal legend Thierry Henry thinks that his old side have a genuine chance of winning the Premier League and Champions League if they sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
Benzema has been a long term target for the Gunners and, despite Real Madrid’s resistance to sell the prolific Frenchman, Arsene Wenger is prepared to patiently bide his time in an attempt to snap up his main man.
The Arsenal boss started Theo Walcott up front in their 1-0 Community Shield victory over Chelsea last weekend and although the England forward isn't an out and out striker, Wenger seems to have favoured him over Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck ahead of the new season.
But Henry believes that Benzema, a striker in a similar mould to himself back in his playing days, could give Arsenal the quality they need in front of goal to challenge on all fronts this season.

"I always say it's their year but there is a genuine buzz around the place right now," he told talkSPORT.
"I think they can challenge this year for real if they stay injury-free.
"Giroud alone as a striker there – you can't win the league, you need another type of striker.
"I think Giroud is doing really well - he went on to score 14 goals in 18 games, that's amazing - but sometimes you need a different type of striker and I think that, if they can get Benzema, suddenly they are a real title contender and also in the Champions League."
