Arsenal injury update: Gabriel Jesus, Emile Smith Rowe and Mohamed Elneny return dates and latest news

Latest Arsenal news, injury updates and possible return dates

Arsenal are still dealing with a number of injury concerns ahead of a huge run of fixtures.

While Mikel Arteta’s side remain in pole position to win the Premier League title, two consecutive losses (albeit one in the FA Cup) has threatened to leave the door open.

Manchester City, of course, could not take advantage but the Gunners losing at Everton is hardly ideal preparation for their meeting with the champions later this month.

Gabriel Jesus will miss the game with his former club, alongside Mohamed Elneny and Reiss Nelson.

Here’s a look at the latest Arsenal injury news.

Gabriel Jesus

The Brazilian, who has not played for the club since leaving the World Cup after undergoing knee surgery, recently posted an update on his recovery.

Jesus was back out training on grass, seemingly on course to meet the timeline the striker suggested to former UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomdeov last month.

At the end of January, Jesus hinted that he was still “four or five weeks” away from a return, making a comeback towards the end of February or into early March a possibility.

Mohamed Elneny

While the deadline day signing of Jorginho has probably pushed Elneny further down the pecking order anyway, the Egypt international would at least provide another experienced body in midfield.

With the return of European football not too far away, that would surely have been ideal for Arteta.

Still, Elneny recently underwent surgery and will be ruled out for an “extended period of time.”

A key figure at the start of the season, Smith Rowe has not had much luck with injuries of late.

Needing surgery before the World Cup, the 22-year-old picked up another thigh problem after brief cameos against Tottenham and Oxford last month, missing the loss at Everton.

As it stands, it remains unclear as to whether or not he can play against Brentford this coming Saturday.

Reiss Nelson

The 23-year-old may struggle for much in the way of regular first-team opportunities following the addition of Leandro Trossard but did start to impress before a hamstring injury.

In a boost for Arteta, Nelson has been spotted in training recently and could be involved against Brentford.
