Arsenal confirm long-term new contract for Gabriel Magalhaes

Arsenal have confirmed defender Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The Brazilian has been a key part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team this season as Arsenal lead the way in the Premier League, starting all ten Premier League games thus far.

Brought in from Lille in September 2020, the 24-year-old’s contract was not due to expire until 2025 but Gabriel has been rewarded with a new a deal running until 2027.

Juventus had been linked with a move for the player though he has now put pen to paper and committed his long-term future to Arsenal.

“I’m very happy to sign this new contract with Arsenal, because it’s such a big club," he told the club’s official website.

"It’s my dream and today is the best day of my life. I’m so happy to extend my contract here.

"Every game the supporters are pushing the team in the stadium. It’s why I’m so happy to stay here. Arsenal is my home.

"In the future, I want to win games for Arsenal, I want to win trophies with Arsenal and stay here for a long time because it’s my home."
