Arsenal ‘in a good place’ with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba contract talks

Mikel Arteta appears relaxed about the prospect of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba not signing new Arsenal deals before the World Cup.

Talks continue with the influential Gunners trio, who have yet to commit their respective long-term futures to the Premier League leaders.

However, Arteta is evidently not concerned by the apparent lack of official progress and insists negotiations are in “a good place”.

“The contract has to be signed when all parties are happy, are committed and are determined to do that,” said the Spaniard.

“And the timing sometimes is determined by moments, by feelings, by individual circumstances and you have to put all that together and make it happen. But we are in a good place.”

As well as being top of the Premier League, Arsenal lead their Europa League group. They host FC Zurich tonight and will secure top spot in Group A, and a bye to the last-16, if they match PSV Eindhoven’s result against Bodo/Glimt.

Arsenal and England received a major boost after Saka allayed injury fears ahead of the World Cup by training yesterday.

The winger had a scare last Sunday when he limped off during the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest. But he only suffered bruising to his ankle and is in contention to feature at Emirates Stadium tonight.
