Santi Cazorla planning Arsenal coaching return to help Mikel Arteta

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla plans to return to the club in the future to help Mikel Arteta.

Cazorla remains a fan favourite four years on from his departure, having spent six injury-hit seasons in north London which produced two FA Cups, including the club's first silverware in nine years.

The Spaniard, nicknamed 'the Magician' at the Gunners for his ability to change the game and improve his team-mates, feels he has some unfinished business in north London.

"My dream was to play more and more years for [Arsenal] ... of course I would like to come back," he told the Daily Mail. "I have to wait if the club thinks about me, if I can help in something – as a coach or a sporting director."

He added: "When I have the idea to retire, I will speak with Mikel or with someone in the club."

Cazorla described his time with Arsenal as "the best in my career", adding: "I love everything about the club. I miss everything."

Just like any fan, Cazorla has been a keen follower of Arsenal since leaving and has been impressed by the work Arteta has done as head coach and the young team has created.

"They are doing very well, they have very good young players: [Bukayo] Saka, [Gabriel] Martinelli, [Martin] Odegaard. We have an amazing future," he said.

'It's normal they needed time, because after [Arsene] Wenger it's a little bit difficult to try to keep the success. But I think Mikel is the best option for Arsenal: he knows the club, he loves this club and he knows the mentality."
