Why isn’t Arsenal vs Everton Premier League game live on TV in UK?

The Gunners’ game in hand over title rivals Manchester City will not be broadcast live on TV in the UK

Arsenal and Everton tonight face off in the Premier League, but think twice before reaching for the TV remote.

The Gunners welcome the Toffees to the Emirates Stadium this evening less than one month since their previous meeting, which saw Everton record a shock win in new manager Sean Dyche's first game in charge.

The defeat was only Arsenal's third in the Premier League season to date, and they will be very wary of a repeat result tonight with Manchester City just two points behind in second place. This is the Gunners’ game in hand over their title rivals, so a victory will see them move five points clear.

However, only those at the Emirates Stadium will be able to see the game unfold live.

Tonight's game has long been in delayed, having originally been postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September.

It will not be shown live on TV as its original scheduling saw it part of the traditional 3pm Saturday blackout, and rules dictate it cannot be then scheduled for TV coverage at a later date.

Instead, FA Cup action takes priority on BBC and ITV while BT Sport are broadcasting Copa del Rey action and neither Amazon Prime nor Sky Sports have any live action.

You can nonetheless follow the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog, with Arsenal reporter Simon Collings at the Emirates Stadium.
