Aaron Ramsey is set to return for Arsenal at QPR tomorrow night with manager Arsene Wenger adamant the Welshman has suffered no psychological issues from his latest injury setback.

The 24-year-old suffered his third hamstring injury of the season during the 2-1 win over Leicester on February 10 and was expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Former Wales assistant coach Raymond Verheijen claimed at the time that Arsenal’s training regime is to blame for Ramsey’s fitness problems but the midfielder has recovered ahead of schedule and is set to be involved at Loftus Road.

And Wenger insists he has no reservations about throwing the midfielder into action.

“When you have a repetition of muscular injuries, it can put the handbrake on your body a little bit,” said Wenger today. “To get rid of that is a psychological problem. I don’t think he suffers from that looking at him in training. Certainly, you lose a bit of confidence in your body.

“[We have missed] his energy level, his transitional play from offence to defence and from defence to attack and his box-to-box qualities.”

Francis Coquelin will be assessed today after breaking his nose in Sunday’s win over Everton and he will wear a protective mask if passed fit.

Wenger revealed that Jack Wilshere will miss Monday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Manchester United as he continues his convalescence from last week’s minor ankle surgery.

The Gunners face West Ham on March 14 but Wenger was unable to confirm a comeback date for the 23-year-old.
