Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli tipped by Danny Murphy as Premier League’s top young star over Ryan Sessegnon

Danny Murphy believes Gabriel Martinelli is the Premier League’s young player to look out for this season.

The Arsenal winger enjoyed a fine opening weekend by scoring against Crystal Palace as he looks to cement a regular place inside Mikel Arteta’s team.

“The first one would be Martinelli at Arsenal,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“He’s had injury problems, people know about his talent, but I think he could be a really good source of goals.

“Wherever he plays, he always ends up in good positions. he got the goal on Friday. He’s got the ability to make goals for himself. If he stays fit, he could be a key player for him.”

Murphy reckons Fabio Carvalho of Liverpool will also shine this season, along with Tottenham wing-back Ryan Sessegnon.

“The other one, and probably the strongest performer from the weekend, is Sessegnon at Spurs,” added the former England midfielder. “He looks a real physical specimen and I’m sure Conte has had something to do with this.

“He’s always had the technical gift, sweet left foot, good skill and he can dribble. But he looked powerful, hungry and confident. That’s the combination you want.

“People think [Ivan] Perisic is going to walk into the side ahead of him but Spurs have a lot of games and if he plays like he did at the weekend, nobody will be walking in ahead of him.”
