Mikel Arteta put his Arsenal squad through their paces at London Colney once again with the Gunners' Premier League return a little over a week away.

The 2019/20 Premier League season resumes on Wednesday, June 17, with Arsenal facing a daunting trip to champions Manchester City after Aston Villa take on Sheffield United.

Man City are not quite the force they were last season with Liverpool set to be crowned champions this term, but Pep Guardiola's side are still one of the toughest top-flight teams Arsenal could have hoped to face after three months out of competitive action.

Arsenal fans will be heartened by a recent 6-0 friendly win over Charlton at an empty Emirates, with Eddie Nketiah bagging a hat-trick as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Joe Willock all found the net as well.

The Gunners are unlikely to have such an easy ride for their trip to the Etihad next week, but Arteta willbe buoyed by the positive atmosphere within his squad as he attempts to imprint his tactical vision on the team following a chaotic year for the club.

And with the likes of Kieran Tierney and Lucas Torreira back in training, Arteta has a near fully-fit squad to choose from - and the recent Premier League approval of five substitutes per game from an increased bench of nine means the head coach has plenty of decisions to make between now and next week.
