The Gunners, despite a poor first-half, took the lead through Martin Odegaard after Kieran Tierney picked him out with a good cross.
Arsenal failed to kick on in the second-half though, and in the end Everton equalised as Richarlison - who had already had two goals disallowed for offside - headed home.
Demarai Gray then completed the comeback in injury time as he arrowed a shot past Aaron Ramsdale in goal.
Simon Collings was at Goodison Park to run the rule over Arsenal.

Didn’t have masses to do and couldn’t really do anything about the Richarlison header, which looped over him, nor Gray’s stunning winner.
Takehiro Tomiyasu 6
Was in the wars following a stamp from Ben Godfrey. Battled well and was fairly solid throughout. Didn’t have many chances to get forward.

Like Gabriel, this wasn’t his best game in an Arsenal shirt. Passing wasn’t quite at its crisp best and the marauding runs forward seem to have disappeared.
Gabriel 6
Not at his usual commanding self, but he was marginally better than White. Form has slightly dipped recently and he will want to respond on Saturday.
Kieran Tierney 7
Back in the starting XI and he had a good game at left-back. A bit rusty early on, but put in a cross of real quality to create the opening goal.
Thomas Partey 5
As his pre-match interview showed, he is low on confidence right now and he is struggling for form. His passing was a little off, but he got better as the game went on.
Granit Xhaka 6
Given this was his first game back, way ahead of schedule, the midfielder did pretty well. Offered some control in midfield and had a hand in the goal.
Bukayo Saka 6
Was tricky and caused problems, resulting in him being fouled on several occasions. Didn’t really open Everton up, though.
Martin Odegaard 7 | Star man
Got the team’s goal and was probably just about Arsenal’s best player during a lacklustre performance. He had a few moments of quality, with his finish for the goal being one of them.
Gabriel Martinelli 6
Bright and full of running, but was mainly feeding off scraps for most of the game. Got in behind once and his cross just went over the bar.
Alexandre Lacazette 5
Just never got into the game and, particularly in the first-half, he barely had a kick upfront. It was the same with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Old Trafford, so perhaps it’s a tactical issue?
